HOW TO SAVE MONEY ON PASSING YOUR DRIVING TEST There are so many driving schools to choose from but how do you know which is right for you. If you’re looking for cheap driving lessons then you are probably interested in deals like 5 hours for £50, or 10 hours for £99, however you are about to learn how you can save much more than that, here is the low down you want to read. WHY SPECIAL OFFERS CAN COST YOU MORE MONEY You do need to be careful of special offers, so ask about the terms and conditions. Many will take some of the hours away from you and save them for when you get near to your driving test. But what if your driving instructor is boring and you do not get along? It makes learning hard and you could end up losing out on your deal and wasting a lot of time because you leave or really struggle. WHATS THE SOLUTION Well you can ask the driving instructor just for a 2 hour lesson at first that will give you enough time to judge if the person is right for you. HOWEVER DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE INSTRUCTOR GETS PAID? It is said that it costs around £10 an hour for a driving instructor to run their business, so if you are paying £10 an hour and they are working without profit how good is your driving lesson going to be? The instructor has to pay for their car, their fuel, business services, marketing, insurance etc. So think about what sort of driving lesson you are going to receive. THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS TO PASS THE DRIVING TEST IS... Its 47 hours of professional training when you have 20 hours of private practice. But this is just an average that includes people who just take one hour a week and take well over a year to pass their driving test. Some people will take over 60 hours, not because of their ability but because how they structure their learning. If you take 2-4 hours a week, you will need fewer hours to pass your driving test than one hour a week because you are not forgetting the previous lesson. You retain more knowledge. Training with mum and dad, say for 10 weeks at 2 hours a week, can easily cost you £30-£40 a week insurance. So are you better off using your instructor, adding in more lessons per week and reducing the number of lessons overall..? IT COSTS AROUND £200 TO FAIL Many learner drivers will fail their driving test because they are going into their test not fully prepared, so follow these three steps 1) Make sure you complete your progress report card attaining "independent" in every training sector 2) Take and pass a mock test 3) make sure you are driving without assistance on your lessons in the run up to taking your driving test. If you do happen to fail you will need a new test, hire the car for the test and remedial lessons. THE CHOICE IS YOURS... You can either save £1 or £2 per lesson or plan to save more on your over all training.
